Multiple Site Experiments-Aerosol Size

Aerosol size distributions upwind and downwind of a hill cap cloud showing modification of the size distribution by addition of material from the gas phase. These figures show the smallest particles which were affected by passage through cloud were approx 100µm. Particles which were activated have grown to larger sizes producing the observed dip in the distribution. This dip is often referred to as the Hoppel dip.
