CLACE-4 Project Instruments and Data - Particulate Volume Monitor and Sonic Anemometer

Sonic Anemometer data screen
Metek Ultrasonic Anemometer logging screen. screen shows 3d wind speed and direction, as well as sonic temperature. Typically the sonic was operated at 10Hz in cloudy conditions, and 1Hz in clear conditions, though the display always runs at 1Hz. Sonic average wind direction and wind angle was used to set the position of the rotator which points the microphysics instruments into wind. The sonic is heated to prevent build up of ice. One of the analogue inputs to the sonic is used to log the signal from the particulate volume meter, which measures cloud liquid water content. This data is also displayed on screen.
