Investigation of the formation and transformation of SOA generated from real-plant emissions during the ACES mesocosm experiment
A series of experiments investigating the formation of secondary organic aerosol particles from mixed emissions from various plant species has been conducted within the NERC APPRAISE funded Aerosol Coupling in the Earth System (ACES) project. This picture shows the experimental setup which allowed for the transfer of real-life VOC emissions from different types of plants into the chamber. Aerosol formation and transformation from the oxidation of emissions from various other natural and anthropogenic sources can be studied in a similar way.
