The Manchester Aerosol Chamber - Reproducibility

A filter holder has been built into the fill system such that the entire contents of the bag can be sampled through a 47 mm quartz filter when flushing the chamber. Offline analysis provides speciated chemical composition information using LC-MSn and GCxGC analysis. Figure 1 shows the chemical composition of SOA generated from the photooxidation of a-pinene under the same conditions on two consecutive days. The average ratio of the peak areas of the two samples is 1.17 showing a good reproducibility of the chemical composition of SOA generated in the chamber.
