Project Overview
Black carbon aerosol is the dominant source of short-wave absorption in the atmosphere. This has a net warming effect on global climate, as well as more local effects such as perturbations in the hydrological cycle. Absorption can be enhanced by a coating of nonabsorbing material such as organic or sulfate aerosol. My project involves an investigation into the composition of black carbon coatings and the absorption enhancement they cause.
