Current Research Projects
Our current research projects are listed below. Completed projects can be found here. Locations of all projects (current and completed) may be viewed on our interactive project map.

ACID-PRUF
The Acid-Pruf project aims to quantify the indirect effects of aerosol on radiative forcing due to their interaction with clouds and understand the underlying cloud and aerosol processes in both liquid and ice clouds over a range of atmospheric conditions.

BCPOL
Demonstration of an aircraft system for real-time discrimination of cloud ice, cloud water droplets and dust particles. The BCPOL developed by Droplet Measurement Technologies is suitable for routine operation on commercial aircraft.

BIOGENICE
Characterisation and Modelling of Climatically Relevant Primary Biogenic Ice Nuclei in the BEACHON Southern Rocky Mountain Project.

DIAMET
DIAMET is a project to study mesoscale structures in cyclonic storms, with the aim of better forecasts of severe weather over the UK.

SAMBBA
The SAMBBA project aims to investigate the properties of biomass burning pollution over South America. This pollution impacts human health, regional weather and climate.

TROSIAD
TROSIAD examines how intrusions of stratospheric air into the troposphere enhance or inhibit deep, moist convection through the analysis of observed ozonesonde and VHF radar data and the modelling of case studies.
