Manufactured by Droplet Measurement Technologies (DMT) the Single Particle Soot Photometer (SP2) is a new instrument for measurement of soot content in individual airborne particles. The instrument is capable of sizing and determining the soot content of individual particles in the size range 200-1500nm, and is sensitive to soot mass in the range of 1-300 femtograms (1x10-15g) per particle. It can operate without loss in particle concentrations within its measurement size range ranging from 0-10,000 particles/cm3. Data can be recorded in conditions having higher number concentrations provided coincidence effects are handled during data analysis.
